From everyone here at the Otis Redding Foundation and Redding Family, we want to extend a huge thank you to everyone who helped make last week's series of events a huge success. For all those who attended, we appreciate all of your continued support as the Foundation moves forward with its exciting new plans for the future, including the implementation of the arts-integrated DREAM Academy charter school.
Events during the week included: the launch of Macon Dreams, an Otis Redding-inspired beer from the Macon Beer Company; the high school Art Competition and opening of The King of Soul: Otis Redding in Photographs at the Tubman Museum; live music and free ice cream from Dickey Farms and Lane Southern Orchards at Otis Redding Day in Cherry Street Plaza; a VIP BBQ at the Big “O” Ranch; screenings of Otis Redding concert footage at A Picnic Under the Stars with Otis Redding; and the star-studded tribute concert and gala, An Evening of Respect. With such a long list of events, there was not a dull moment all week in Central Georgia, and we are so appreciative of your support to help us make this birthday celebration happen.
Since its inception in 2007, the Otis Redding Foundation has impacted the lives of over 800 youth, including the facilitation of a trip to attend the GRAMMY event “In Performance at the White House,” presenting the Otis Music Camp and the Otis Redding Center for Creative Arts.
